The annual Daniel regatta has concluded on Saturday and there was much rejoicing and satisfaction at the Tel Aviv Rowing Club. Before going into self-centred details of our success, it is important to thank the organisers - the Daniel Rowing Centre, the Israeli Rowing Federation big-shots and - most of all - rowers, especially those from the Haifa and Tiberius rowing clubs, who came from the land beyond the high mountains to participate.
Now about Tomer: トメロをとめられない. Got it? No? In Japanese it reads "Tomer o Tomerarenai". Which can mean either: "Stop! I can't Stop!", or "Tomer is unstoppable." Pardon my silliness. However, Tomer did very well and rose-up in skill to get first in under 14 by a wide margin to make us at the rowing club full with bloated glee and respect to him and, of course, to Robert, the trainer.
Many other rowers - with an emphasised focus on rowers from the competitive group - have done well. Some of their achievements were more on a personal level - like Niv who shed-off 40 seconds as compared with his previous 2000 meter race. Roni did her first (?) 1000 meter race against ominous (largeness-wise) competition. Daniel Gutman did twice a 2000m race, a physical fit not to be sneezed at. Totally in her own class, and competing against none other but herself - 10 year old Aya Zion has done her 1st race and shown us a very strong finish. Aya is said to have the fighting spirit and stubbornness of a super nova. Our other rowers have also done a good job - if to judge by Robert's good mood.
As usual, Robert had something to complain about: "Why did everyone go home so early." We had to drink lots of beer by ourselves and Tomer wouldn't help us *at all*..
