Committee update 2010-05
http://donraja.files.wordpress.com/2009/06/monkeys.jpgThe committee meeting minutes keep coming - this time in a record speed of just two days after the actual meeting. Thanks and honor to the keeper of the protocol (Osnat). Much of the meeting report is dedicated to a club "dirty laundry" case: the disturbing incident involving one of our youth rowers, which after weeks full of friction with the coach - including a burst of violence by the father against an inanimate object - is leaving the club to row elsewhere.

As usual, the minutes can be read in full at http://rowclub.org/node/298

Petition: continue the fight for the future of the Kishon River Park
The Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel and our friends at theHaifa Rowing Club are putting up a fight to prevent a large area of the Kishon River from being diverted for other purposes by the authorities. The following is a link to the petition page (Hebrew) where you can add your support.

Blanka needs a home

The departure of the Mongol has left many of us with a hole in our heart, but it has also left Blanka without a home. Due to complications related to the transport of domestic animals between Israel and Hungary, Szabolcs (aka 'Sabo-kun') did not take beautiful Blanka (see picture) with him upon his departure. Blanka is now in a need of a new home. Blanka is totally friendly and harmless and she can also dance.
Please leave us a message athttp://rowclub.org/contact/club%20information if you know someone who would like to adopt Blanka

The 'renewing' Yarkon and the Cellcom family of morons
I don't care about Cellcom, and they don't really care about me. But in addition, they also think I am an idiot. Actually, they think - with more than a little grain of justification - that we are all idiots.

With megalomaniac grandiosity and the grovelling cooperation of the city and other public bodies, Cellcom made their own the Yarkon Park and the streets of Tel Aviv with the sole purpose of self-promotion disguised as a philanthropic day of fun for the public. The key slogans used to promote the event have surely resulted for some of us in breakage of marriage and our personal relationships - no less!

Departure of a Mongol
PA180027.JPGFor almost two and a half years, Szabolcs Toreki (seen hanging here to the right - with the good-old towel rolled down his pants trick) has been a club member. Good looking and full of muscles, yet not stupid and well mannered. Well, now he is gone. Maybe there is a good side to his departure - when in Hungary, he will go back to his old rowing club and will tell them how wonderful the Tel Aviv Rowing Club and its members are. If any of us visit Hungary, we go to that club and tell them we are friends of Szabolcs and surely they will let us row (as long as Israel kills only Turks and not Hungarians). Szabolcs may be contacted via his Email address: torszabiii@yahoo.co.uk.
